About the ProgramThe primary aim of the Child Development Program is to provide educational services that equip students with life skills through contemporary teaching methods in line with the principles of lifelong learning and the requirements of the information age and professional life. In this regard, the program aims to educate individuals who effectively utilize their competencies, conduct research, contribute to the development of their country and profession, continuously improve themselves by following developments in their field, possess original ideas, and demonstrate analytical thinking skills.
Purpose
The program aims to educate qualified professionals who have internalized the concepts and principles related to the field, base their knowledge on universal science and education in child development and education, combine theoretical knowledge with practice, fulfill the professional requirements of the field, and prepare appropriate learning environments. Graduates are expected to support children’s holistic development while also providing activities such as music, art, drama, and gymnastics education. The program seeks to train practitioners who contribute to improving the education and quality of life of today’s children and who possess creative, innovative, and developmental competencies in the field of child development and education, enabling them to work effectively in various institutions and organizations.
Objectives
The program aims to educate individuals who possess sufficient foundational knowledge in education and care services, can interpret and evaluate data by using the basic knowledge and skills acquired in the field, identify problems, and develop solution proposals. Graduates are expected to effectively determine and utilize the methods, techniques, services, and technologies required for professional applications, produce solutions to unforeseen problems encountered in practice, take responsibility in teamwork or work independently, communicate effectively, and demonstrate tolerance and patience. In addition, the program aims to train professionals who possess sufficient foreign language proficiency to follow innovations in their field, adopt universal and cultural values, demonstrate professional ethics awareness and competence, embrace lifelong learning in both personal and professional life, continuously improve themselves by following scientific and technological developments in the sector, and possess knowledge, skills, competence, and awareness regarding safety, health, and environmental protection measures.
Admission Requirements
Admission to the Child Development Program is based on a national entrance examination. Graduates of vocational and technical secondary education institutions are awarded additional points calculated by multiplying their secondary education achievement score by 0.06 in associate degree preferences. The placement score type for the program is YGS-4.
Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate from the program, students must:
Achieve a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.00 out of 4.00,
Successfully complete all compulsory courses in the curriculum,
Successfully fulfill all other academic requirements specified by the program,
Complete a total workload of 120 ECTS credits.
Degree Awarded
Students who successfully graduate from this program are awarded an Associate Degree Diploma in “Child Development” and receive the title of “Child Development Professional.”
Progression to Higher Education
Graduates who successfully complete the associate degree program may transfer to undergraduate programs in “Preschool Education Teaching” and “Child Development” at universities, provided that they obtain a sufficient score on the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS).
Employment Opportunities
Graduates of the program may be employed in preschool education and special education institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, as well as in public and private preschool and special education institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Family and Social Services. They may also work in hotels, children’s clubs within tourism facilities, children’s play areas in sports centers, toy manufacturing companies, and children’s publishing sectors in roles such as design, promotion, marketing, and child development support staff. In addition, graduates may be employed as paid preschool teachers in kindergartens affiliated with the Ministry of National Education when needed.

Requirements and Regulations for the Degree Awarded
Students who successfully complete all program requirements are awarded the “Associate Degree Diploma in Child Development Professionalism” at the end of the fourth semester.
